This is another one of those really easy recipes; it’s actually not really a recipe at all ;-). Steak is great on its own with salt and pepper but if you leave these pieces of steak for long enough in the marinade (at least 2 hours) it just adds so much to the flavour. These are best cooked on the barbecue, or braai for us South Africans but are fine in a griddle or frying pan.
Serves 2
Ingredients:
- 2 pieces of steak, I use rump
- 2 tsp of ground black pepper
- 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
The rest is REALLY simple, combine all the wet ingredients and add the pepper. Put them all in a ziplock style bag or a dish of your choice and cover and leave to marinate for at least 2 hours in the fridge.
Cook your steaks to your liking on a braai / barbecue or in a griddle pan. Serve with salad, veg and chips. See my very simple tomato salad “recipe”, it’s a winner.
